I almost gave this book an even lower rating. I loved the first book, I know there were a lot of inappropriate pandemic-centric books that came out in 2020 but that felt realistic and grounded so I enjoyed it.

I was looking forward to this book but I was disappointed. For me it felt like it had no substance, it was smut — and though I love reading smut too, for this in didn’t work. It felt rushed and the timeline for the actual emotions to kick-in for the main characters felt unrealistic.

Also it didn’t have a smooth storytelling. Every scene felt rushed and that the characters came off as flat. Imagine reading a book and a character who literally talks about how she’s different from how she’s usually perceived — I would have rather seen proofs of it or at least read how the other character observed it.

The only salvation for me was the latter chapters. I enjoyed the scenes outside of the cabin. I will still read the next books but I will be sure to be wary and set my expectations lower.

There was a sweet comfort to this snowed-in together story. Like a cheesy Hallmark movie, but with the heat turned up ten thousand degrees.

These two souls, Ryan and Kendall, have avoided each other most of their lives, only interacting when necessary, but even then with contempt. As much as Ryan's sister and Kendall's best friend, Cami wished they got along, it never happened, but it was most likely due to mutual attraction that both denied having to one another.

However, now that both Ryan and Kendall are trapped in a cabin with no rescue in sight they are forced to not only co-exist together, but for the first time ever they are forced to be truthful about their feelings for each other.

Ryan and Kendall have tons of chemistry and they have zero problems once their clothes are removed. This story is hot!! Where they begin to doubt one another is after the hormones calm down. They have insecurities and doubts, just like the rest of the world, about what will happen once they leave the cabin. Can they survive long term? How will things work outside their bubble?

The Best of Us is mega hot, but also contains a super sweet story about two people just as messed up as the rest of us. Another Kennedy Fox hit!

This one was good. I liked Ryan and Kendall. Their feelings flipped pretty quick, but it was still a good book and I enjoyed reading it.

Enemies to lovers
Best friends brother

An enjoyable weekend read.
Ryan & Kendall have known each other for years since Cami, Ryan's sister, is Kendall's best friend. They've secretly crushed on each other for a long time but haven't acted on it until they get stuck together in a snow storm in Ryan's family cabin while getting it ready for Cami's honeymoon.

Seeing them open up to each other and really get to know each other is the best part of the story. And their chemistry is off the charts, they can't keep their hands off each other!

I wish they both weren't so flaky with each other once they got back to the city, but the authors did a good job of getting them to find their way back to each other.

Audio review:
Oh, how I have been waiting for this story!
It was so worth it.
Kendall and Ryan were explosive.
Their chemistry, their want, their need and their banter had me absolutely riveted.
I didn’t want it to end!
Tor and Emma did an amazing job with narration.

I’ve been excited for Kendall and Ryan’s story since I finished The Two of Us. I love the progression of their relationship throughout the book. They went from hating each other but that changed as they got to know each other and as learned new things about themselves, they realized how wrong they were about one another. Emma Wilder is absolutely amazing and I love her delivery of Kendall. Tor Thom is fairly new to me but I really enjoy his narration. If you are looking for a red-hot steamy listen I really recommend this one.
