I really enjoyed this as I’ve always been a big fan of YA and dystopian future sci-fi. Only took me this long to read because I’ve been exhausted from uni.

I really enjoyed this book, very the hunger games esque. I love the dystopian genre and it really didn’t disappoint *immediately picks up book 2*

I had some serious issues with the book. The premise being interesting was what led me to start the book but I found it quite sexist. I am hoping that it is a plot ploy but I am not sure I want to read the next book to find out.

This is a really inventive approach to a dystopian/sci-fi romance novel. I loved it all. It's imaginative and cinematic and incredible. The world building as well as the character development arc are commendable but most importantly the literal Cliffhanger makes me want to search heaven and earth to read the second book ASAP.
The story is based in the era where no girl is born and the world is almost full of men/boys which leads to the imminent extinction of the species. (yes human race is particularly known for its self-decimation ability) After 50 years of male borns one girl, Eve, takes birth and becomes the saviour of humanity.
But in trying to save humanity, does she lose everything else!? Her love, Her freedom and Her life..
And unputdownable story because of some strong, confident writting.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a quick, easy read but it gripped me and I finished it in just over a day. I liked the romance, I liked that there's more to come and I want to know more about the world. It leans heavily on "tell don't show" at times which I wish it didn't, and I'll admit in the first few pages I was rolling my eyes at Eve but that quickly stopped and she became more normal and real as the book went on. I look forward to the sequel!

I probably would have devoured this as a teenager but as an adult it felt a little transparent. Some parts were really obvious but others were nicely done. The word building was great and I really liked the outside sections. I felt like it took a while to get going but once it did the story was pretty decent. 3 stars as an adult, likely 4 as a teenager.
