this is really good. it's also really depressing but ends sort of hopefully? obviously, given the title to the series, it's also full of sex but not erotic at all (see the depressing part earlier). pokes fun at certain tropes in isekai and is a very promising start to a series, but fair warning, you will have to kind of power through some really unpleasant scenes to get through.

Read a lot like... a shounen anime, or a sitcom, where there is a plot... you just have to get through all the fillers and side plots first.
The twist had me though, bc I was getting too complacent in the sexcapades of dear Haru that I despaired and gave up any hope of a plot. Imo that twist gave the book 3 stars, or else it would have been a 1.

To borrow a term from AO3, Dead Dove, Do Not Eat.
I found this book compelling, the characters appealing and the emotions came through, but this is a book with a LOT of graphic sex and SA. Just forewarning.

Okay, thanks, I hate it.

I picked this light novel on the BookWalker on a whim, after I saw it right next to the infamous "In Another World With My Smartphone" and the even worse "The Master of Ragnarok and Blesser of Einherjar". It was supposed to be a fun read ...in the sense of me making fun of how bad it is.
Well, boi, it was even worse than that.
For anyone wondering - no, I don't like present-day Isekai. My acceptance of this "genre" ends with KonoSuba, which is at least funny, and No Game No Life which... is actually kind of my dirty pleasure. So yes, I did expect that I won't like this LN. ...But I by no means expected I will resent it this much.
It's not about the protagonist, Haru, being a sex worker (don't slut shame, guys). It's not even about the world being misogynistic. And it's not... okay, I'll stop right here because yes, those sex scenes? They were bad. Like... /bad/. BAD. Really, really bad. Bad like something I would write in 14.
The problem is that there's so much missed potential! You've got a protagonist sent from another world who has to make a living by selling her body because the world is just too misogynistic and limited for her to do anything else. She's also got. You could have made her try to fix the world for the better. She had the resources! She had the means! And it could have ended ! But no, you just had to cramp just as many of badly written sex scenes you were able to squeeze into one light novel.
....I actually haven't done my research but I bet the author is male.
(Also, you don't have to mention that the world is misogynistic in every single sentence. We get it. It's bad. Just the perfect environment for this stupidass nonsense.)

first, THIS BOOK ISN'T FOR EVERYONE. HUGE TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT.
this one's hard to rate so i'll:
the writing style is simple and straightforward, which isn't uncommon for light novels. I think the voice of the main character, a high school student, was pretty realistic, i genuinely felt like i was reading a teenager's train of thought
i really liked how feminist this book actually ended up being, especially in a genre such as isekai. i am not an isekai fan at all, i find it repetitive and boring, so having a book narrated from an entirely different perspective than that of the Hero™ was good for me. instead of the happy path of the mighty hero, you are taken to the hardships of a misogynistic world from the eyes of one of their most vulnerable group, the sex workers. just because this book is set on another world doesn't mean the depictions of abuse, assault and danger the women in this line of work endure are any less real.
i did like that it didn't sugarcoat the assault scenes, however, i do think they were unnecessarily long? and I would've liked to see the aftermath, the struggles with trauma that our girls have to go through.
I loved Haru, I loved to see her happy, I loved her determination and wit. I loved the side characters, all the girls are amazing.
I don't think this book is perfect and I don't think I'd recommend it, just because the sexual assault is pretty heavy, but I do think it does a good job deconstructing(?) the isekai genre.
I wish it had more of a conclusive ending but at the same time I'm pleased with the whole experience.
