Great concept, as usual, but I found this so boring. The charm of the earlier books in the series was lost.

“In the end, our real home had always been one another. And a real home was all I’d ever wanted.”
This book was too much for me and I didn't like it. There were way too many characters for the author to provide any sort of decent characterization and there was too much plot and it was scattered and all over the place. Additionally,. It's unfortunate that these books had to end this way, but I just couldn't do it. It should have been left at three.

easily could’ve had the whole thing compressed into a chunky trilogy. the whole planned plot went nowhere and when riggs tried to tie it back to devil’s acre in the end, it felt like we never left at all. overall, it felt too light to warrant its own extension. the new elements could’ve been easily incorporated into the initial trilogy, not have their own extension trilogy where they meant almost nothing. to name a few: 1) lighteaters lore? their relevance, 2) other existing prophecies that dictated events in peculiar history, 3) velya-harold-abe lore bc they were so overhyped but barely elaborated on, 4) bentham??? where is he???, and 5) other american loops yada yada. i have so many unanswered questions and these are just off the top of my head. it fell off really badly, unfortunately.
still a banger world, and the extension trilogy had its moments, but it just felt repetitive and lackluster compared to the original.

Simply amazing. Wonderfully written and an amazing end to a fantastic series. Hats off to you, Mr. Riggs.
