Artwork in the book was great. I didn’t know much about Audubon before I read this book so it was quite an interesting read. But the writing felt little disjointed. It didn’t seem to flow well and could have been better.

Disappointing in terms of representing Audubon as a problematic person who was also good at art. Author describes his racism as a "foible." Author chose NOT to show him as a slave owner. Text describes some plantation owner/slave owner as "a kind man." I think a fair representation of him as a flawed person who produced great art would have been more interesting. In this case I kept getting frustrated with the outdated way his problems were glossed over by the authors.

Beautiful and horrific. To go through the world killing all the things you love, just to be able to draw them better... that is true horror. There seems to be a meanness and an obsessiveness to the man, and also to the imagery in this gorgeous graphic novel.
