I think I loved this book more than the ACOTAR series. Cas is to die for and this book ended on a wonderful cliffhanger. I like listening to the Graphic Audio productions but I don't know if I can wait until December for the first half of book two

I can't wait to get a physical copy of this one! I wasn't able to preorder this time around but I want to be able to hold on to this and add it to my collection!

I love a good cat and mouse game. The Butcher Game plays like the Trinity Killer in Dexter or the Miniature Killer in CSI. Jeremy is toying with Wren, leaving bread crumbs and making everything so personal. It really draws me in and I get so invested. I'm not sure if this will get a screen adaption but I would definitely watch it. It would be nice to see how Jeremy is played since he can be charming and attractive but something seems so off and he's quick to anger. He seems like a character Evan Peters would portray.

I was really surprised by this book. I normally don't like many male authors, but James has created each character with a level of depth its a lovely unexpected work. I am most amazed by the female characters he's written. They are not surface level, they are layered and multifaceted. To have a book that handle different disorders, addiction, and trauma seemingly well researched all culminate into such a massive plot and so much deception was a wild ride. I am now keeping Markert on my radar and am starting Mister Lullaby. We shall see how much I really like his writing!

(Also the use of religious imagery and psychosis was well done in my opinion. It really shows how religion can turn into something sinister so fast and if someone is charismatic enough they can corrupt a following. Cult leaders and ideology has always been fascinating)

I am so glad I read sleep tight first. If this was my first introduction to JH Markert I would not have picked up any others. I did not like this book. It felt very disjointed and muddled up with too many ideas and concepts. It felt like Twin Peaks from David lynch in a bad way

Once again, Slaughter write of things that are real but really hard to read through and imagine. They are not outside the realm of what humans are capable of but it is such vile behavior I’m glad that this instance is just a book. Piecing together the story as it goes along trying to discern who we can trust. What a ride.

How heartbreaking to hear about Julia's last couple of days. She was ready to do so much with her life and be more present for her sisters.

I don't think I was the right audience for this book. It has an interesting concept but I wasn't fond of the execution. At the end I did get to have a, "Good for her" moment

I normally do not like space sci-fi or supernatural type stories, but I gave this a chance because my boyfriend is reading it and I wanted us to have a book in common to talk about. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up enjoying this novel. At first, when the first hint at romance was revealed I had and eye-rolling, "Oh, brother!" moment. Sometimes I want a female lead in a lead position who isn't worried with romance. She can be strong and single, but it played a small role in the big picture mostly showing up in the epilogue. I'm glad it wasn't too distracting

I want to feel bad for Simon. He was young when he died but he went out of his way to make people’s lives difficult because they slighted him in some way. He was the Perez Hilton of his high school. So I’m not sure if I’m upset or not by his passing he was not a likable character
