Such a good first/second installment! (I know this is book 1, but I honestly don't know how you'd follow along without reading Islyne's novella story first). The character development was good, especially for such a short book.

This was a cute story and I will definitely read the next one. Two things I didn't like though: it ends really quickly and suddenly, and the run on sentences made it *almost* unreadable. It such a fun concept that I will give the next one a chance

Such a great ending to the story!! I really loved it! There were some loose threads that weren't tied up, but that's ok. The overall storyarche was so beautiful and desperately needed right now

Pretty good. I don't find Slade sympathetic but I'm glad Bruce is part of it now

This was a really great rendition of the Iliad and I'd highly recommend it!! I wish he had focused a little more on the women's words (there are so few in the Iliad that it's worth knowing them), but I understand why he didn't. The only scene I really think he should have had and didn't was glaucus's speech on mankind being like leaves, as it's such an iconic speech

There is a LOT of blood, but ironically it's not as gorry as Homer's actual story

Such a great book for all families, even families without "explosive" kids. It's a perfect pairing for gentle parenting, even though those words aren't found in the book.
The one part I felt was lacking was how parents need to understand their own childhood wounds/trauma and help from that before they can truly do this well. He mentioned it in an off-hand way, but being on a healing journey myself, it's so imperative for every parent to reflect and heal (even if you had a good childhood!).
