Previously rated this as 1.25 but after thinking about it, it's not even worth 1 star

I was intrigued by the end and wanting to know more about the male main characters and the magical element that was introduced. I was hoping there would be another book continuing where this one left off but alas that does not exist.

The side characters really made this book a fun and interesting read. I didn’t overly care about the main characters though I do like Caroline over Basil. Caroline has an interesting back story and I adore the representation of her family as well!! I loved the idea of a sapphic island resort 😍 like yes please I want to go! You’ll definitely need to suspend your belief - about hallmark cheesey type of belief but with sapphic love interests and explicit sex 😉

This made me cry and felt like a hug for my inner child. A bit healing in a way. I love seeing trans kids and black trans kids embraced by their families and thriving. “When I looked in the mirror I finally saw me” aww man the tears. At age 30, I’m finally beginning to see me as well.

I would definitely read a fuller length story with these characters.

Interesting premise but the ending could have been better. The ending was meh. Characters are naive and feel like a device to move the plot along. I loved Pat but then at a specific point I was just like Pat would not have accepted that gift so easily - it was out of character. I’ll give Brandon Massey another try.
