“A story can tell the truth...but a story can also lie. Stories can bend and twist and obfuscate. Controlling stories is power indeed.”
What a charming, magnetic story. I've read this book many times now, I reread it every year, and every year, I feel like I get more from it, somehow.

This is my ultimate comfort read, I first read the book when I was around 10 (no, I should not have this book in my hands then, no, I don't regret reading it at such a young age) and since then, I reread it countless times. I can't think of any flaws, I think mainly because reading this book feels like coming home, not because it's perfect. I love how lighthearted is the first half of the book, but the heroine has to also face real things that were happening in the sixteenth century.
