review from October of 2020 - SJM kept her writing style - the first 500 pages are good, nothing special tho. And on the last 300 pages, she throws at you every shocking thing you could think of. Like everything. To be honest, I expected that Syrinx will have puppies in the epilogue 🤣 also, the ending felt a little bit... Much? It felt like SJM made a list of things that could go wrong and wrote them down. I LOVED the friendship between Danika and Bryce. Also, anyone new reading this, I recommend you to take a piece of paper and for the first 100 pages to take notes about who has what position and how does he look like. I was pretty confused about Micah and Isaiah for the most part of the book.

“I will call you Beauty, for that is what you are.”
I've read this book once before, and I remembered the story as something nice, something that suits the autumn vibe.
Well, I remembered it wrong. The story is so much more than nice. It's emotional, I loved the symbolism, and even though I remembered some plot twists, and I know Beauty and the Beast, I was still surprised by the ending. I enjoyed the writing, and of course, the wintery, foresty theme, but those were more like nice details, I was excited to read the next chapter because of the story, and because there was always something I didn't expect.
And I have to admit, the author's note and the dedication made me cry.

“No one really wishes to be a queen.”
I've read this book so many times now, another reread felt like coming home <3 And with every reread, I love the sisters, the world, the twists and turns and the vibes a bit more
