I sighed so hard when I finished this book. Oh man, it wrecked me.

I'm conflicted about this one. It's very real and raw, but also very boring at times. Which is how life is, so perhaps the author was successful there. There are some beautiful and heartbreaking moments (good and bad), and I was exhausted when I finished it. Do with that what you will.

We did a huge unit on the Holocaust in 8th grade. I still use the activities from that unit as examples of meaningful and powerful instruction. Naturally, we read this during our studies. I loved it probably because she was about 13 (my age at the time) when she wrote it. I still love to read it and the last entry gets me every single time.
