The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker

I loved this book. A sadder, more relatable alternative to the other dystopian fiction out there--but a better one, I think. You won't finish it feeling hopeful, exactly, but you will be glad you read it. Also: one of the most respectful treatments of an adolescent narrator I've ever read.
