The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter by Theodora Goss

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
The only DNF of the year for me. The author tried be creative with the style of the book by having the characters interrupt the narrative randomly. However, what works for TV and films, does not work in a book. It did not add any thing and pulls the reader out the story.

The characters were really flat and had no depth. Once Sherlock Holmes was mentioned I read reviews from other readers. It appears that my issues with the book do not improve. This book is a wonderful idea for a story, and the author does demonstrate good writing with her descriptions. Unfortunately, it just was not for me.

My library advertised this book as being targeted at an adult audience. The 10% I read seemed to lean more towards a YA demographic.
