The 6th Target by James Patterson

Not sure what the 6th Target was in this book and where did the core of the Woman's club go? But this book still reads fast and easy to put down and pick up and read another great chunk at once. A beautiful day turns tragic when a man takes a gun on a ferry and horror strikes. Then, young toddlers who are prodigys are being abducted, but no ransom or demands come, except an eerie note that is more cryptic than helpful. And then you have Cindy living in an apartment that is under attack. Each one of these stories could of been expanded and made for a deeper plot, but not is not the style of this series. The ferry case was used to bring Yuri to the forefront as an attorney, but the case was quickly decided by the jury and you knew what the criminal would do in the end, The second case alluded to the fact that the children were taken because of thier talents but quickly (maybe to quickly) wrapped up in a nonsense matter. And the third case had the most promise and was creepy like the cases they normally solve, but I just didn't get why Cindy would choose to live there? And poor poor Lindsay, no more long distance relationship for her, you can feel her pain as she tells Joe no more and he tries one last time to convince her he MIGHT move to California, she told him go until you do. This may not be the deepest mystery to read, but they are enjoyable and still a great read even with a few mistakes.

Wish I could rate this book higher, knowing this author wrote a better book in later years. This one was just painful to read and need some serious editing help. Cut two hundred pages, change the route to the killer and it would of been a better read for me. Many people recommend this writer, but this book didn't support the recommendations. We have a killer called the Creamator by the media, but his third choice of the victim is what brings this case to the forefront of the homicide division and calls in the FBI. Add in a witness who is not cooperative and gives the advocate assigned to her a headache. This book had great potential but fell flat quickly. I had to skim the book, or I just couldn't finish it. Towards the end when the identity of the killer becomes clear, the author gains focus and draws me in as a reader. But by then, I didn't really care what happened in the story and was glad it was over. I will try this author again since [b:Kill the Messenger|84843|Kill the Messenger|Tami Hoag|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1171057561s/84843.jpg|1170225]is very suspensful, well researched and good reading material.

Darren and Mr Crespley are visited by a Vampire General and they go on a road trip which leaves Darren clueless as to what is going on. Ezra goes along for company. I love this series, but this book was just lackluster. I prefer the setting at Cirque Du Freak to the traveling. It seems Mr Crespley has secrets and Darren still has the behavior of an immature teenage boy. SO when he sets out to find out the secrets problems pile up. Towards the end of the book, it got good with the typical action of the previous novels. I HIGHLY recommend this series, but it is not the typical twilight vampire books but very different and unique and stands on its own quite well.

The fifth book in the series but the weakest entry. After Max and Sherry solved a brutal case in the previous novel, they now need to decide how they can move their relationship into the future. Sherry travels to the Everglades and Max's home in the remote Everglades. After a few days they decide to travel by water to another fishing camp. Unknown to them a hurricane is blowing in which was the best part of the book. In other plots we have two seperate stories being told and when they come together it was a little farfetched. I still give King props for taking a very slim plot idea and spending a great yarn from it. This book didn't have enough depth to it and my favorite supporting character Billy barely makes an appearance. I notice he is writing stand alones and with the way this book ended it could be the end of the series or a new direction for these characters.

This is not my normal type of reading and I had great reservations about reading it. I don't know why, I enjoy vampire books. Within the first few pages I was hooked. In the first chapter we are walked through Elena change and it was painful to read even though I wasn't quite sure what was going on. Elena renounced herself to the pack and has returned to the human world, when Jeremy contacts her. She returns home to Stonehaven while telling her human boyfriend Phillip a lie. Upon her return, she learns mutts are attacking the pack in great numbers. This quickly becomes a story of defending the Pack and protecting its terrority. But Armstrong makes it so much more, we read about everyone's loyalty to the Pack, how they connect to each other and finding out where you belong. I don't give the book a 5 star, just for the fact the ending just ended and I don't feel it supported the plot.
Disney at Dawn by Ridley Pearson

It has been about 4 years between Disney at Dark and Disney at Dawn. This is what was hard about reading this at first, not enough infomation given by author on incidents he mention that happened in book 1. Once I got past that, it was an adventure story. Evil is trying to overtake Disney by making and controlling holograms of animals. The Kingdom Keepers are the only authorized holograms allowed in the park and for once the human verison are allowed to visit due to a parade to honor them. This was an exciting read following the clues and watching the kids figure out what to do next and make their move. My downfall with this book, is if you are not familar with the park, you might be confused with the different areas they visited and not being a gamer, some of that techonology was hard to understand. But this book is shelved and marketed as a TEEN book, so I give it a 4.
