I first read this short story in school...either late High School or early College. The story starts off very benign and slowly builds into the unexpected ending. It took me completely by surprise the first time I read it, though I could feel it building towards something. It's short and chilling.

I never expected to be so captivated by a story about a haunted car. While the idea of a murderous car with a mind of her own is scary enough, the real horror for me was watching Arnie Cunningham's life deteriorate around him as he becomes more obsessed with the car. Dreams of college, love and independence from his parents are all cast aside as Arnie is consumed by Christine and the ghosts of her past. This scary tale will make you think twice about cruising in classic cars and listening to golden oldies.
