slow and simple and steady, a very lovely recollection of a life. very old fashioned, but in a way that reminded me of my grandma :)

heavy content but very accessible style of writing - it lays out a lot of the details of the history of the occupation, while keeping the humanity of the families and the crash victims central throughout. they probably should have titled it differently, only because people are weird about being “misled”, which takes attention away from the book itself. very well done overall; i think it’s a approachable place for americans to start learning about Palestine

love! many were very easy to connect to. these poems stuck out to me: arriving, the damn cast, the wrong anger, the low road, season of hard wind, the doughty oaks, arofa, argiope, for the young who want to, the moon is always female, right to life, may apple
i find it easy to admire in trees
what depresses me in people.

i kinda slogged through the middle bit of this, but it kept me interested enough. the beginning and end were my favorite parts. Maybe I didn’t like the middle as much because I really don’t know the physical parts of a pirate ship very well. I did like the look into a child’s mind, with the discussion about innocence and trauma.
