I love how you can tell the respect and passion she has for the scientific concepts is equal to that for the history behind cultural crafts and the stories of people who are innovating it today. The inherent tradition of engineering and the science of creation. Also really makes me want to visit the countryside.

beautiful beautiful story of hope, despair, institutionalised suffering and community. genuinely one of the most sincere depictions of love i've read. wish it was longer and had a more conclusive ending but i respect the choice to maintain the realism in optimism.

Made the 1st book seem so much better in comparison.

Okay it wasn't that bad but that pacing outside of the very start and the end was sooo bad and it was weird because by the end of it i was like we hardly did anything here???

that's not to say i didn't love sian and trillin's relationship cause it was quite beautiful and i acc lived for the whole disection of fairytale roles and stories as a reflection of how we put ourselves in constricting boxes to keep the status quo alive and achieve a flimsy idea of 'happy ever after' that doesn't apply to all of us and doesn't work for anyone.

unfortunately that isn't enough to combat the pacing and earn more than 3 stars.

Can't wait for the next one though !!
