this was a compelling romance mostly because despite Sally’s tiresome “I’m ugly but at least I’m funny” act that wasn’t as feminist as she thought it was, you can’t help but root for her. Her deep-seated insecurity and fear of vulnerability is so relatable. I don’t know that we needed 70 pages of emails in the middle or the highly detailed descriptions of the inner workings of SNL (oops I mean TNO), but I have to appreciate both the hope that normies can snag hot celebrities and the gross-yet-maybe-endearing-but-definitely-pathetic Pete Davidson representation.
