The Home Game by Brigham Vaughn
5.0
This has been such a strong series, each hockey player's story has been so different and Matty is another different character. His heart is so big and kind and I will admit that I was totally with his teammates when they were worried for him. The reader has the advantage over his friends; we know Antoni is also pure and kind and not out to hurt Matty. This book makes you jealous of babies getting Matty cuddles, he is a serious cuddler and likes a touch connection. There is a sadness to how these two find themselves in their situation, but the relationship between the two MC's is upbeat. Matty describes himself as demi, and has never responded to someone so quickly, he describes his usual bedroom behaviour as boring, but these two are seriously hot together. I'm not sure I will be able to eat liquor chocolates the same way again, now I know an alternative. This is quite a long book, but it was necessary because there is a big story to tell. The kids, added a lot more to the story too and of course we get to hear from the teammates and SAP's. There is homophobic and transphobic angst to be aware of. We also get angst between Matty and Dom, that has been brewing between them for a while. Dom gets his story next and I can't wait to find out his secrets. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Law of Seduction by M.M. Phoenix

Sometimes I come across little gems, whilst searching KU for books I haven't seen before. This one ticked my boxes. I love an office romance, especially when it's a secret. I really enjoyed Ethan and Nate, as Nate discovered, Ethan had several sides to his personality. Uptight, professional lawyer in the daytime and fun, flirty and dressed in leather trousers at night. These two meet by chance, before they realise Ethan's new associate is Nate. It doesn't take long before they can't deny their magnetic attraction. This is quite hot and steamy and a lot of fun. There are some angsty parts, mainly from their pasts but they are addressed. There is a third act break up, and although some people don't like them, I like the rush it brings. This one forced Ethan out of his comfort zone and helped declare his feelings. The story is lifted with the help of Ethan's two best friends, Travis and Rob. They surely have their own stories coming; but the star of the show is Puffy, Rob's pet snake who seems to be a trip hazard to many. The epilogue, despite being a bit silly, gave a lightness and the promise of a HEA.
