Rating the life's work of a man feels very strange, but I really really enjoyed this book. It was wonderful to see how Bateson's work evolved and connected to itself across time, to see the patterns in his examples and his figures of speech, to see how he started to connect the dots he'd laid down and didn't know what to do with. His way of working and looking at the world is fascinating, and I think I'll always carry it with me.

Banger.
