Two people that have met once, at a volunteer-based Ren Faire, declare themselves as enemies for literally no reason, but then fall in love(?).. Yeah I don't think non-dark contemporary romance is for me.
Concept is cute but other than the 'spice' the characters act like young teens at best.

Returning Home to Our Bodies: Reimagining the Relationship Between Our Bodies and the World by Abigail Rose Clarke

Returning Home to Our Bodies provides an unique perspective of the human body and its connection to nature. I found the exercises sprinkled throughout to be refreshing and allowed for the reader to view their body, not as a machine as so much of society tells us it is, but as an organic being with deeper meaning - a reclaiming of what our bodies are at their core, not what they provide for society.
Unfortunately, much of the book felt disjointed and like it was trying to do to touch on too many topics, so I was frequently pulled out of, what felt like, the core of the book and it's purpose. However, it was still quite good and I enjoyed thinking of my body in a different light.

While I went into this knowing it's meant to be a silly, goofy time, I did more eye rolling than giggling and found the modern language and slang to be more irritating than anything.

Having never read The Thursday Murder Club series, or any other of Osman's work, but knowing how beloved he is in the mystery genre community, I went into this with big expectations, mostly due to the hype I've heard surrounding TMC. Unfortunately, I was left quite disappointed by the flat characters, all over the place plot, and lack of fleshing out of just about everything in the story.
While I can see where readers find enjoyment in this style of writing and plot-work, there were too many inconsistencies and ridiculousness, that felt like the reader was supposed to take as serious, for me to feel fully committed to the story.
I think the real moment I was taken out of the story and things started to go down hill for me was the line from Steve's POV in Chapter 52"He has never fired a gun before..." He's a retired police officer...and you're trying to tell me that he's never fired a gun?!? EXCUSE ME?? Honestly, that was the beginning of the end for me and that was only 55% through, so it was a struggle to get through the remainder of the book.
Also, half of these characters are meant to be from England and yet every one of them had the same voice and way of speaking, so..
The only POV/storyline that I was remotely interested in (and there's a million..) was Bonnie's. Considering she's a side-side-side character, that doesn't say much.
