This some good shit. Great world building, an interesting magic system, lovable characters, and a fun academia setting. The twists, action, and mysteries constantly kept me engaged, and good lord that ending. Can’t wait for more

This book carries the momentum of book 1 and runs with it. HD does great world building, character development, and improving on the action and stakes of the story. Hadrian specifically grows into a magnetic and compelling protagonist, with his monologues and inner struggles being a highlight. Got me very excited to read book 3. “Fear is a poison”

The first half of this book could cure someone’s insomnia with how slow it is, but the second half introduces higher stakes and helped me care more about the characters and where the journey was taking them

This book is the literary equivalent of doing a line of coke then fighting a bear. Best written action scenes of all time and Pierce brown continues to drop absolute banger lines. “As I surround myself among the mounds of my enemies, I feel the dread beast rise inside. “Lune thinks himself King, but on the battlefield there is only one ruler, and his name
is Reaper” 🤤

Witness Pierce Brown drop bar after bar with the most based protagonist who fucks the enemy figuratively and literally, do not let my man Darrow and Sevro cook
