I wanted to love this. Truly I did. These characters had some good moments but I hated the romance and that's most of the book. Maybe I shouldn't have listened to the audiobook but I also found the steamier parts to be lacking

This is for me, as someone who was obsessed with Gail Carson Levine's book as a child, felt incredibly nostalgic. My favourite book is The Fairy's Return and in some ways this felt like it could fit perfectly within that world. I will definetely be reading more from T. Kingfisher in the future
