If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

This book ruined me. It reminded me why I fell in love with Shakespeare in high school.
The Frame-Up by Meghan Scott Molin

2.5 Stars, if only because the last quarter of the book finally pulled me in. The first half frustrated me to no end for various reasons I may expand upon later. The characters lacked a lot of depth and I only really cared about the MC’s best friend by the end of the story. The idea behind the book was interesting, but I just found the execution very lacking, in both depth and accuracy.

Time for me to go hug my mom and cry until o can’t cry anymore. This is the most a book has affected me in a very long time.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Angie Thomas will go down as one of the most prolific authors of the 21st century, and her book will be taught in classes the same way generations before studied To Kill A Mockingbird. It is a true testament to the author when you start to think of the characters as real people.
And in a way they are.
*minor spoiler ahead*
The list of names on the last pages puts it all into perspective. The characters may be a work of fiction, but the story is all too real. This book is about empathy and love for those around you at its core, in the most meaningful way.
This book will stick with me forever.

I must be the Staryk King because I would literally do anything for Miryem. A little slow during the world-building bits but once the narrative split between the three women it was amazing!!

I’m pretty sure I wrote something like this for my review of The Knife of Never Letting Go but who cares?
Ways I’m like Todd Hewitt:
• I am soft but like I’d throw down for Viola
• I’m lowkey just tired of everything
• I would probably kill for Viola Eade

Was this the best book I’ve ever read? No. But was it damn good fun to read and made me instantly buy the sequel? Absolutely!
