Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, Vol. 1 by Fujita

I really enjoy the characters and all the references here. As an elder millennial otaku it resonates a lot and it gets a lot of giggles from the deep cut refs to dumb game shows and 90s anime. The fujo stuff especially has me snorting all the time.
However, it's pretty obvious the creator doesn't have a ton of experience with sequential. Although the art is lovely, the panels are packed in a way that had me fatigued after less than 100 pages. So much text uncomfortably crowded in a way that fights against the art on the page and is often redundant.
For now, I'm gonna keep reading past this volume. The layout and script issues are definitely something that can be cleared up with practice so it might remedy itself in another volume or two. I hope so because the story itself is fun!
