Yes, this is lit fic and not romance. I wish I were better at reviewing. If you read this and thought I wish it was stronger..Nora Roberts once a year publishes a much better version of this.

The best Emily Henry is still Beach Reads.

I enjoyed this! It is British so if that humor/tone work for you, then this won't. The audiobook is the way to go. Be warned, I thought this was ending for the last two hours.

(If you're reading this for older main characters and like scifi, try Remnant Population by Elizabeth Moon)

I read this long ago but I just heard someone comparing this to a Becky Chamber book. This sorta enraged me. The main character is not just "unlikeable main character trope", he's a bad guy. He lacks any empathy throughout his life and is arguably cruel. Reading another redemption arc .....no thanks.  The cruel choices he made will impact folks lives for years and years but oh yeah look he feels a tiny bit bad now so we good... I don't mind an unlikeable character at all but this afterlife redemption in this overly cheerful story really has bothered me more and more overtime. FFS. Not for me.
