It was bad. Hated the ending. At least there were well-written lesbians though

I think that this is a very good queer YA fantasy novel. I am used to reading high fantasy/adult fantasy so my expectations might have been too high, but I loved these characters so much and the plot was pleasantly unpredictable.

This story perfectly captures what it’s like to be a young queer woman. The yearning, the fear, and the curiosity from the process of self-discovery are so well captured that I felt myself reliving my experiences in middle and high school. As a white woman, I cannot speak to the accuracy of the experience of Asian-American sapphics, especially in the 1950s, but it was clear just how much research the author had done in the Author’s Notes. Please read this book cover to cover; it’s just that good.

This is the best book I’ve read in a while, maybe ever.
