A young black woman gets caught up in a relationship with a married man in an open relationship, and you're witnessing a woman searching for something, but no idea what that something is. It's sad, she's hurting, she's lost, she's detached and she's messy. This is one of those books where you're going to be uncomfortable the entire time you read this.

This one time a girl who goes through hell, forces herself out of a terrible relationship only to gain her power back by going toe to toe with multiple masked rock stars, and those within their orbit. It’s delicious. Check TWs.

Despite the slow pacied start and the confusion I have with the ending, I loved the eeriness of the story. I loved that this is a haunted house story where the house is a character itself, and these ghosties are fueled by spite and rage (because same).

I loved this insight/corrective historical analysis into black resistance and black joy. This examines what violence v nonviolence truly means, and I highly recommend.

"Man can’t be two types of beasts"

Flawed and violent characters is something that SA Cosby does so well, and Beauregard “Bug” was no different. I loved how this book tackled income inequality with a fast and furious backdrop. It was action packed and moving, and truly just a story about a man coming to terms with which beast he chooses to pursue.

my brain will not recover from this poetry collection, but I want more of it because self-indulgence and self-deprication is such a messy and relatable world to escape into
