ok so gut reaction straight after finishing was that this is an absolute 5/5, but waiting five minutes made me have other thoughts.

like i do want to say that i really enjoyed this book, the premise was sick asf and i love the true crime elements incorporated with a very needed criticism of the fetishisation of serial killers. also as someone who’s like. terrified of giving into their intrusive thoughts, this really gave me the heebie jeebies so maybe watch out on that front (that was part of why i liked the book so much though)

NO BUT WHY TALK ABOUT THREE GIRLS IN THE SYNOPSIS AND THEN ONLY GIVE TWO POVS. LIKE HELLO??

i do wish the ending hadn’t tried to resolve the book through ~magic~ because that kind of killed the suspense for me right at the end. so i left it feeling a little disappointed.

but yeah it was an enjoyable book! i do recommend it

what the actual fuck is this tbh.

like the manipulation and control sort of thing had the potential to be really good but it just became some lesbian-fetishising torture porn. it also didn’t help that the book was so damn short - like i get it’s meant to be fast and intense but instead it’s just one dimensional characters with no motives that make sense and like no characterisation.

idk. i was just disappointed, but i should’ve expected it from a man writing lesbian fiction.

that ending had me sobbing.. not the most dramatic twist but lord it packed a punch.

i think part of the reason i was so invested is because i despised like half of the characters, amazing work by tjr to make me hate them so much but not be able to stop reading

oh my god i love this book so much. this is everything my lesbian, in-the-midst-of-a-religious-crisis self needs.

i wasn’t sure how a story so short would be able to be so damn thrilling and emotional, but polk did it. i loved reading this and working out the plot at the same time. beautiful

I love lesbians! i love bisexuals! i love wlw!

the idea of representation and it’s importance hits so close to home. it’s the feeling that i just want to see myself celebrated and loved in the way that traditional cishet relationships are.

a good read if you want something light and gay with a happy ending

Oh how far we’ve come. I wish I could make everyone who told me I was broken or unnatural read this book.
