I think I found a new author who writes exactly what I need and crave: a great and emotional hurt/comfort series. Yep. Who was gatekeeping S. Rodman? Huh?! Well, I will indulge myself now, thank you very much.

I'm glad this is an omegaverse without mpreg, and with sex slaves, found family, hurt/comfort galore, lots of sad and hurt boys, and lots of affection.

I adored the MCs. Some parts are dark, with some dub-con, non-con punishment, and other intense scenes, but I devoured it all. I'm a sucker for captive/captor MM romances, and this one delivered. There are tons of feels, hesitancy, and fear to open up, but not for long.

I was impressed with how the author made the healer/omega pairing work, even without the usual alpha physiology. I mean, the fisting scene was so hot.

I read this in a day and I'm already halfway through the next book.

Bonus epilogue: (from the author's newsletter link) So yeah, this was delicious. Red's heat and the toys? Yum. Short and filthy.

I love MM mafia romances, and I absolutely devoured this book in one day. Finch was an amazing main characterโ€”full of heart, funny, a rich boy with morals and respect for others. Luca was hard to love at first, but I understood his struggles with being accepted and realizing he can be happy too. What made me love the book even more was that both characters have lives outside their relationship. We see friendships being formed or changed, which made the story even better.

The love between the two was deep and a bit rocky, but in the end, they value each other so much and will do anything for each other. The spice was interesting and full of feels, though most of those scenes focused on lust rather than emotions. But that changes in the later part of the book.

I'm not a fan of insta-love, but here, the one-sided insta-love didn't bother me.

We have the usual mafia shenanigans, politics, and intrigues, and I cannot wait for more. The rich/poor trope was surprising but also something I seek in books. I love the author's West Coast Mobsters series, and I just know I'll love seeing these men find love too.

An amazing paranormal hurt/comfort book with an absolute sad boy MC and his prick of a husband... who redeems himself. You can't help but root for themโ€”the acceptance and caretaking are to die for.

I am quite easy to please. Give me a great hurt/comfort read with caretaking, and there's a high chance I will love it. At first, I didn't believe I would actually fall for both MCs, but oh boy, was I wrong. Lucien is the kind of character you want to wrap in a blanket, give comfort food to, and protect from the world. Drew... was difficult. I struggled with him but also understood where he was coming from, a little. I mean, he's a first-class douchebag for the first 30% or so. But later? I melted whenever he tried to redeem himself. The "touch him and die" vibe was serious by the end.

The spice had lots of D/s undertones and some kinks so it was always interesting with a pleasure Dom and some lingerie (and an androgynous MC).

There's also some plot that made me interested in the series. I'm glad I enjoyed this book and that it was intriguing enough for me to ask for more because I know this won't be my last time reading anything by S. Rodman!

I loved this book more than I expected to. Why? Well, I normally don't read Daddy/little books with age play, but oh my, these two were wonderful. I loved their dynamic from the get-go. At first, I wasn't sure about Kenzie and his bubbly, chaotic side, but he grew on me, and I loved him to bits. Talon? Oh my. He was amazing from the very beginning, and I loved how respectful and mindful he was. Wow. A king of kink communication.

I was happy there was literally no angst between the two MCs. The only tension is between the MCs and the nosy town. But itโ€™s still a sweet, fluffy, calming romance, and I personally needed that. I will definitely check out more from this author because they wrote a Daddy/little book without making it weird. It was just endearing and often funny. Yep. Lovely.

What a great hurt/comfort book with on-page struggles, minimal relationship angst, and a strong found family theme.
I'm so happy I read this book because it was swoony and full of romance. I was specifically looking for a book with a main character who struggles with mental health on page, and this one definitely delivered. These two were meant to be together. There's quite a bit of spice, and while I sometimes struggled with the kinks and dynamics they had (they're not even 21 and already practicing certain kinks?), I could brush that off because they were smoking hot together.
There's a small other-woman drama, but nothing too angsty or significant. By 25%, everything is dealt with.
The found family aspect was well done and believable. Most characters exist independently of the main characters, which makes them all feel more realistic.
The music industry side kept the story interesting. It's more present in the later part of the book and definitely sets up a conflict for the next book.
I struggled with the pacing in the last 30%, and the last quarter had quite a few typos and other errors.
Even with those issues, I will definitely read the next book.

4.5* for a swoony romance with some angst.

He wasnโ€™t losing the man of his dreams to stray junk or a cold brought on by rain. Heโ€™d fight lightning for Dane if need be.

So I've read a couple of K.A. Merikan's books and I love them. And this book is still in their amazing signature style - chaos, unpredictability, deep love and some darkness.

This book has definitely a way more likeable MC than the first book Scum had. Is Jag still a red flag? Yep. But I could not help but actually root for him and his ways. There is some angst between the couple but I think there is quite a steady development with some arguments along the way. But the are not apart for a long time at any point in the book.

The found family was amazing even if more apparent in the second half. Why not full 5*? I think that Dane was less developed character than Jag. He was likeable but I wished he stood out more. What I loved about the book was the plus size appreciation.

The last couple of chapters introduced some drama (which is a norm for this series, there is always some drama introduced in the last quarter) but I expected it and actually could not wait for it.

What a delight! These authors have created such an intriguing world with shadow magic and a cruel environment that I definitely want to revisit in future books.

The highlight of the book is the captor, Kyran. He is so sincere and sometimes a bit naive, but never stupid. The romance between him and Luke is beautifully woven throughout the plot, and by the end, their relationship just made sense. I truly appreciate books where the romance develops naturally, so you realize: "Huh... they are in love, and I don't question it at all. I'm just happy for them." The spice was hot and full of genuine need.

Luke was such a sympathetic character. Fighting for his freedom at every turn, he ultimately showed incredible strength and bravery. They really complemented each other.

The book is long, but I devoured every chapter, whether it was world-building or romance. And the description of clothes? Omg... a Goth's dream.

Another absolute gem. This time a historical incest story. There's lots of steam but also emotions. The ending was absolutely beautiful and I wouldn't be mad if we got to read more about these two princes.
