This is my book! It's set in a modern, secondary world with Ratatoskr, support analysts, cinnamon rolls, introverts, portal magic, shifters, and friendly vampires. I'd say it's more more cosy than grim, though it does deal with environmental disaster.

Minor: Sexual harassment

Moths in my bedroom at night are one of the few things that really freak me out. Once upon a time, someone convinced me that moths would nest in my hair. So T. Kingfisher reached right into the corners of my brain for this one!
I liked how it brought in Alex's PTSD from both the war and the horrors of the previous book. Also the moroi reminded me a bit of the sleep paralysis part of The Haunting of Hill House (TV show).
