WOAH! 😮‍💨 The Soulmate by @sallyhepworth came highly recommended to me by my book lovin’ sis @barbiebooknook. I’m a big thriller gal, as most of you know, but somehow I hadn’t read any of her work before. This suspense novel had lots of twists and I genuinely can say that the ending got me!! I couldn’t have even imagined THAT!

I must’ve been not paying attention to the news when the initial news broke. I only heard about this once Ruby was sentenced. I then found myself on Youtube watching countless hours of “true crime influencers” tell this story. It was really refreshing to hear it from Shari’s perspective. She exhibited bravery, love and courage for all she went through. Thanks to her efforts, her siblings will be safe. This memoir shows resilience, especially in a very young woman who was being ousted from her family.

This book is truly incredibly written with well-done reporting. If you’re not familiar with the disappearance of Susan Powell, I strongly suggest listening to the first season of the Cold podcast. I learned about the devastating case there but longed for more information. This book checked those boxes while maintaining the integrity of Susan, the boys, Jennifer and the Coxes. I hope with everything in my soul that this case is one day revolved. This is a tough read, but an important one.

I probably should’ve read a little bit more about this one before I picked it up. It had a really strong start and had me hooked, until I realized there was a paranormal element to it. It lost me after that. The writing was well done, it just wasn’t for me.
