I have a lot of thoughts on this book, and I'm not sure what exactly to write here. I'm tempted to just leave it as -Holy shit, what an intense read, I loved every bit of this story-
I was engrossed from the start and didnt want to put it down. I enjoyed the progression of Elisha and Alex, and their changes and growths despite how difficult it was to read. and I like how this story portrayed the terrible truths of what was happening to these debtors in this fictional world (that seems like it could easily be a reality) when it could have very much so just stuck with romanticizing a very unhealthy relationship in a society that would be terrifying to live in.

My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell

This was a very difficult book to read. I'm torn with how to explain how it made me feel. Even though it is fiction, the story of what Vanessa went through is so real, something you know happens but without it being in your face it's easy to brush off and ignore. I feel like it's important that this story is heard, as uncomfortable as it made me and as much as it makes me look too deep at things long buried.

This was a fantastic read! I dont do nonfiction and memoirs, but finally caved because I was so intrigued. I finished this in one sitting and was so engrossed, fascinated, excited, and a bit grossed out. Then I'd have moments where I remembered - WOW, this is her life! And be even more interested and wish I knew her and was half as willing to be brave and go for the things I want. Wonderful book!
