Prose is flowery as hell even for victorian standards but an excellent work with the dodgy aspects aside. Definitely deserves the position of major works in the making of gothic literature.

The ending was both depressing and hopeful. A beautifully written short story about unexplored aspects of dependent relationships. The beginning was a bit slow but it was definitely overshadowed. Deserves as much love as Frankenstein.

Includes a few questionable scenes depicting lesbians and homosexuals sexually interacting with the opposite sex (alongside things already called out by the warnings). Overall very enjoyable if you read them as character vignettes with artistic and raw depictions of sex, love, lust and the darker aspects of such feelings.

Roller coaster of emotions, the light hearted sections are dull compared to the angstier ones (which are written very well) but overall okey.
