Liberalism..... Its cute and does a great job of bridging its knowledge and connecting it to tangible activities kids can do to put their art/voice into the world, but a lot of effects of art as protest felt too vague and metaphysical to really hit home the actual impacts of art in social movements beyond mere symbol

Casual anti chinese propaganda scattered here and there but overall a great general history simple enough to understand for children!

Very well researched with tons of detailed examples drawn from news clippings, diary entries, and church records and plenty of novel suggestions for all types of time traveling tourists :)

Really cool how the author explicitly compares the regency with our modern day norms and asserts that while we may think the past is backwards and linearly unprogressive, there are all kinds of complex people, ideas, and movements happening at all stages and classes of that era. Also loved the very wide range of cultural social monetary and age perspectives he looked into, which gives a very well rounded understanding of the kind of world you would be visiting! Just overall very well researched and presented in such a fun way!

Very human and real with struggling for a sense of identity and history in an empire as a young person..... im kinda in the middle about whether i liked the anti ornu propaganda happening without aiza's noticing thoughout the book or if i wouldve preferred seeing her making a conscious decision to brush it off. Overall i really like how it approached the fantasy empire genre without focusing on a chosen one narrative, but as always with comics i wish there was more time to deeply learn about side characters especially towards the end as they try to grapple with deconstucting colonial propaganda in their own ways

I could say something about the need for more community-based methods of learning ASL over depending on individuals deciding to learn it but thats not what this is about and also i love the BSC and its open mindedness and care :')
