The first two thirds was good if slow, but the last third is from the perspective of a completely different character who I found unlikable and who I struggled to care about at all. And whose narration was hard to read and at times bordered on confusing/nonsensical. I feel like overall I only have a vague understanding of what even happened.

I love all three of the other Southern Reach books, and I'm glad I did read this one, but given how good the others are, this one just felt really disappointing.
