Piper Rayne has a very light writing style that you can pass through in no time. It is not too detailed, but it is not completely superficial either, which leaves it in the golden mean - it gives enough information to the reader at the right time, so that the story runs smoothly and is interesting enough to follow to poke his curiosity.
Now, friends to lovers is a trope that is not one of my favorites, although I do like it. Much depends on the performance itself whether I fall in love with the couple or just get annoyed at their poor communication, which is most of the time the main reason for them not being together. There have been times when I go crazy about the story with such trope, but unfortunately, "Something Like Love" was not one of those. Don't get me wrong, Elle and Cooper are cute together, and from afar you can see how strong the bond they have with each other is. I liked them as a couple, and every now and then I even had something on the inside that fluttered for them as I followed their story, but the book never completely hook me.
✨I liked the guy and respected him for asking me if he could date Elle, but now that it actually seems as though it might become something, I'm starting to lose my shit. He's treading on my territory.✨
Their characters are built well, even if they are not very deep and complex. They are great for a light romance book.
I know that the book is not as closely related to erotics as other similar ones, but it had these kind of moments, and I cannot fail to note that they seemed to be rushed just as so there would be such scenes. For this reason, the sexual tension between the main characters was not good, although they have tremendous chemistry.
✨"If you love him, go to him, and when there are problems, love him harder. If you both truly love one another, you'll figure it out. I promise."✨
The climax made me puff and roll my eyes because it was extremely unnecessary the way it was written and rather added completely unnecessary drama and ended up with me disliking the FMC.
✨"I can't do it, Elle. I can't come second. Not when I'd put you first every damn second of my life. I want to share my life with someone, not feel I'm dragging them along for the ride."✨
The ending was sweet and nice. I even think that I would better like another book from this series, because the couple from it grabbed my interest very much, so I do not exclude the possibility of trying it.
In general, it was not a bad book, it just was nothing special for me and it won’t make me remember it for a long time.

To be honest, I didn't think the book affected me until I had to stay home alone overnight. Then I realized that it had managed to get under my skin much more than I thought.
✨ Is there anyone who thinks they're eveil? Or does evil always see itself as superior?✨
I will start by saying that the writing style is quite detailed, which slowed down my reading and made it more difficult, but I liked this because it showed the depth of what was written. From the very beginning the story kept me under pressure, as from the first sentence it put the reader in the dangerous situation. Everything was developing rapidly and at the same time too slowly because of the descriptions and thoughts of the main character, who were constantly wandering in different directions. It is these different directions that helped me get to know her, to understand about quite important moments in her life and, accordingly, to understand why she reacts the way she does, after finding out about the intruder.
At first I didn't know if what was happening at the beginning would be the main thing in the whole plot or if there would be more to happen, but as it stretched for too long through the book, at some point I began to have doubts that I would get bored because of all the delay in the action and the almost complete lack of dynamics. However, when I had already lost hope, the story took a rather unexpected direction, which I will not deny, I liked very much. I can't help but note that it was this protracted moments, which made the tension I was under to keep growing, as I was constantly wondering what would happen, would the psychopath catch her. And my fear and at the same time my anger could be read by my face when the main character began to waste too much time trying to get out of the house. It was terribly painful to follow her attempt to seek help, but because of the turmoil she had, she could not find it at all. And it annoyed me very much how the police were neglecting her, how they did not believe her and showed her that they did not take her seriously, and left her all alone against the madman. I was going crazy!
The climax is super good and gathers a lot of tension indeed, but I felt like it went very quickly and wasn't deployed to its full potential.
The denouement and the end, on the other hand, are great - they are written properly and are given the necessary attention, which I am happy with.
"Nightwatching" is a great book that, although was harder at first, once it engulfed me in the story, I didn't want to stop reading until I had all the answers.
