Okay, so this was... really bad. I expected so much more from this book, because both the annotation and the tropes were really promising. But I was really disappointed with it.

The writing style was bad, but I've seen worse. It was not really deep and detailed. The author tried to make the main characters deep and make the readers feel their pain, but in my eyes, their reasons to be mad at the world were just kind of ridiculous. That aside, I found out that there was series about all the people in the group, because there were a lot of references about that, but honestly, after what I've read, I don't feel curious enough to read the books about them.

There were too many details about things that weren't very important for the main story and some of the different scenes throughout the book felt very repetitive.

I could connect with the characters at all and I couldn't feel their connection too, because I felt their relationship really forced.

I think that the story had a really big potential and I liked the idea behind of it. Also, there were some good scenes, but they were not enough at all.

So as you can see from my rating, I had a lot of problems with this book.

I'll start with the writing style. It was fast and easy to read, but that's only because it was practically non existent. There were no details, depth and a most of the time logic in the story and the characters. Some things were just happening because there had to have action and that was it.

My second problem was with the story. Untill one moment it could have passed as somehow realistic (not very realistic, but bearable), but from one point on I was feeling like the autor was just through random bullshit at the readers to read and I was lucky that the book was just 260 pages, because if it was more, it would've been an instant dnf.

My third problems were the characters. They were shallow, I couldn't feel them at all nor could I sympathise them. The only good thing about them was that they had a good and open communication and even that was questionable, because come on! You don't share some of the things they shared out of the blue. You just don't do it that way. And don't even let me start with the dialogues... Most of the time they were speaking I felt like what they were saying came right out of Dorra The Explorer and just couldn't take them seriously.

The erotic scenes were bad. Like really bad and I think part of why they felt ridiculous was exactly because of the dialogues. I just couldn't feel the spark, couldn't see the passion. Their relationship felt rushed and forced and I just didn't exactly care about them.

The most ridiculous thing, however, was the climax. Where did that come from?!? 20+ pages with a trial that could have been avoided to be written or it could have been a lot shorter. I felt like the author just didn't know what should be the climax and went with what she thought of first.

So, yes, I really didn't like the book and would not continue with other books by this author.

Sorry, this one was not for me. I liked the story and I cannot say it wasn't interesting, but the writing style is what pushed me away. Although it was really good, it was detailed to such a point, that I think it was unnecessary for the whole of the book.

Unfortunately, along with the good books, there is no way there will be none that not only missed my expectations, but smashed them to smithereens, and "My One & Goalie" by Kara Kendrick is just like that.

The story has a lot of things that I love, collected in one book and it was exactly the thing that I really wanted to read when I started it. However, my enthusiasm was quickly extinguished after I went through the first ten pages, because I understood what I was actually going to deal with.

In "My One & Goalie" we have a lot of ingredients that would otherwise bring the story a great success in my eyes, but in reality they are not in the right quantities at all, which creates something that is very far away from good.

The writing style is quite shallow and lean in terms of any expressive techniques and means. And this is noticeable in the first 3 pages, which led me to think that the author can do so much and is unlikely to improve there. I didn't think I'd say it, but a Hallmark movie has more meaning and depth than this book.

Even though the book is a very short novella, things still happen too quickly, which made them look so forced, even ridiculous, all the time.

The actions follow some points that you need to go through in order to get a romantic story. And it doesn’t matter at all to the author that its not their time to happen when they happen and that this totally interferes with getting to know the characters and makes them extremely superficial. The situation is just tragically bad.

I also think it's time for someone to tell the author that by repeating what a "bad boy" the main character is, but he actually behaves like a complete angel, it doesn't magically turn him into a bad boy. It just makes the characters' thoughts and dialogues sound even more ridiculous and stupid.

In summary - there is a good idea and if the performance was at least half as good, it would have turned out to be a somewhat decent book, but alas. We are left alone with this one.
