As much as I enjoyed the competition and food aspect of this, there was nary a rom nor a com to be found. I couldn't get behind the feelings they had for each other because there was very little development towards their relationship to make me believe it

I can't do it anymore. This book is so bad. It reads like the author wrote tropes and tried to make it form a picture like a jigsaw puzzle. The scene transitions are choppy, there's no description of settings anywhere in sight, the characters are bland and their motivations do not make sense. I've been debating this for weeks now and I'm finally done gaslighting myself into thinking this will get better

For a thriller, this wasn't very...thrilling. The pacing was so slow that 30% in I'd already lost interest in the girl being found. There were too many povs of unimportant characters that it took away from the characters that the author intended for the audience to care about, judging by the last 100 pages of the book.

Nothing about the book correlates with not justifies the title of the book. There was neither a god of the woods nor was there an enjoyable mystery thriller to be found. I regret not dnfing.

I was enjoying this up until they finally met each other. It just went downhill from there and I even skimmed the last couple chapters. It's very disappointing because this is a prompt/trope I tend to enjoy quite often.
