When I first finished this book, I had a hard time deciding if I liked it or not... and a few years later, I'm still trying to decide. Yet the story has stuck with me. It's an immersive tale, full of imagination and emotion. I think the title and/or the synopsis led me to think that the race would take up a bigger portion of the novel, so I was disappointed in that regard. But expectations are very tricky things, aren't they? If you go into this book understanding that it's more about the events leading up to the race, you might come out loving it.
