Compared to the first book it felt like we had less time with the recurring characters as well as new characters, it all felt a bit rushed. This wasn't helped by the fact that the biggest clues that led to some more unravelling of the mysteries were introduced by a new character rather than discovered by our own lead. Still extremely engaging writing style and I sure stayed up too late to keep reading it.

Missed out on  5 stars because some points became repetitive and the structure of following the same individual stories at the start of each chapter didn't really work for me.

Really fun experience reading this at the same time as a non fiction book about genealogy since a big part of the mystery is about tracing family links. Could've stepped up the pace a bit for me but maybe that's to reflect the way of life in lakeland? The snippets of the fletcher memoir werent reallt of interest to me but i am intrigued wnough to check out wordsworth. Either way will be reading more by this autbor.

Docking a star because I have to wait for the next book to arrive before the mystery can be resolved.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
The length is quite a commitment and I kept having to repeat sections because I mostly listened before falling asleep. Will plan it in better next time!
