a pretty solid book, considering it was austen’s first novel despite it being published after her death. it’s not my favourite of hers, but i did enjoy it a lot. it has her characteristic dry wit and engaging characters; it was overall a fun read, though sometimes slow, but that’s typical of the genre.

I just couldn’t get into it, and I’m under a time crunch for class. I’ll definitely give it another shit in the future when I’m not so swamped with reading for class.

i didn’t expect this to be one of my favourite books but it absolutely floored me how much i loved it. from the first letter to the last, i was captured by frances burney’s writing and, of course, our beloved evelina. i’m so happy i had to read this for uni, i enjoyed it so, so much. we love to see evelina go through the world learning to be more self-assured and mature, and we absolutely love to see lord orville by a completely enamoured, lovesick puppy. more men being stupidly in love please!! romance novels of these days cannot recreate evelina and orville’s friendship and love.

why did no one tell me this is a dark!au fanfic of the bridgerton show wherein anthony is a psycho villain who can’t go 10 pages without fantasising about murdering someone and everyone hates each other
