Did not finish book. Stopped at 19%.
I couldn't get into it. All the metaphors were somewhat arbitrary and pretentious. It's a book that I would have definitely enjoyed in high school. It's been on my TBR for the last 15 years, should've read it when I came across it.

I really enjoyed that it was a book about work and friendship.

The writing is beautiful, there are some stylistically brilliant sections as Both Sides and The NPC. The difference in style between sections felt very playful and well thoughtful.

I find it absolutely tragic that we never learned the main character's name. Maybe that was the point. Maybe struggle has no single name. Maybe learning it would take away from it. Maybe Robin was good enough.

Beautifully written book, powerful prose. At times the story dragged, at times it had a bit of a Harry Potter vibe, but ultimately it was an amazing book.

Great premise, poor execution. It's a story of a woman who lived through centuries but it's mostly a laundry list of hookups with random people in USA and European cities. Also, the devil?  The writing is very repetative, ended up listening to the audiobook halfway through. I really liked the audiobook narrator.

The editors dropped the ball on this one though, an art PhD student referring to The Girl with the Pearl Earring as a Rembrandt, no one caught that in proof reading 🤦‍♀️
