Did not finish book. Stopped at 38%.
That's my fault, though. I didn't look up the triggers until now. I don't do pregnancy 🙅‍♀️... unless it's #mpreg
I was so excited too because they specifically wanted black women 😭 damn

Notable rep: bi & gay, black love interest, black single father, Asian side character (Korean maybe?), addiction recovery, and an anxiety disorder

Marvin is so adorable, and Olan is a blushy little nerd. They're precious together.

They were both lovable and fun to read about. They were both well-rounded characters with their own pasts, interests, personal relationships outside of each other. Even though they struggled with their own character development, their communication with each other was honest and clear to the best of their abilities.

I felt their relationship developed organically, and I could clearly see why they were interested in each other outside of physical appearance. I always hate when it seems like a character only cares about their love interest's looks and nothing else. We got to see their relationship develop and not just hear about it in an internal monologue.

As far as their sex scenes are concerned, I thought they were written perfectly. There were different levels to them with a natural progression. I enjoyed seeing them in different sexual situations with varying levels of intimacy physically and emotionally. The scenes also showed a different side to their personalities that would have been missed if not read. I love sex scenes that add something to the story!

When it comes to the important side characters, they all felt like real people and not plot devices.

The subplot was pretty lowstakes, but that worked well. It didn't take away from the fun nature of the book even though there were some darker themes touched on (recovery and past child abuse). It made sense,  so it did help the progression of the main plot, which was the romance. Subplots that are present just for the sake of having them, are never entertaining to me.

I quite enjoyed the story. It definitely has me smiling and giggling. It's going on my reread shelf!
