Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

Wow. I didn't think Grady could surprise me after How to Sell a Haunted House (I loathe puppets) but this was such a breath of fresh air for a horror novel. Somehow, Grady personifies the literal horrors of having female bodily autonomy stripped away, the emotions and passions of young adult hood, and the incredible force of the unification of women's power. Dark, raw, and gripping, Witchcraft for Wayward Girls was a shockingly serious and powerful story about motherhood, womanhood, and the loss of self-worth and sovereignty.

This was such a creepy and crazy read! I did NOT know what to expect as this story kept unfolding but it was fabulous.

I love a good female revenge story as well as a good writer story and Alice delivered on both!

Also loved the isolated setting. It made the suspense so much more palpable.

A book about depression, estranged family, and feeling like the odd one out. We Could Be Rats is told in a series of letters written by first the younger sister, Sigrid, then the elder sister, Margit. Sigrid has attempted to commit suicide and is trying to write the perfect note to leave her loved ones; a note she asks her sister, Margit, to help edit. Told in an unusual layout and chronologically nonlinear, Austin delves within the psyche of two sisters who have been holding in years of emotion and trauma, only to realize all they needed was to be honest with each other.

I ADORED this book! It was so surprisingly emotional, but was also insanely creative, entertaining, and best of all spicy!

Great chemistry with Coal and Hex. Absolutely loved this. CANNOT WAIT for the next book in the series!
