"Sorry. Sorry. Please don’t— I’m sorry.” Max starts sobbing.

Lowe turns to me. “Do you accept?"

"Accept . . . the spit?”

“His apology.”

“Oh."

This book had me laughing several times. Misery is freaking hilarious! There's a lot of profanity in here as well, which I hate, but I quickly forget about it because I find myself chuckling again.

And geez, a lot of reviewers said they're traumatized with the knotting and let me tell you, this is tame. Read omegaverse. Be educated. Explore. There's a whole new world out there.

“The pig was blaming the world’s problems on fish, when fish were getting poisoned and eaten, and eaten and poisoned, by all the creatures on land who’d built their industries on sea exploitation.”

Clever and punchy commentaries on politics, capitalism, modernization, sea pollution and climate change. Cute animal puns. The conclusion was not that impactful though.

overdramatic. clunky metaphors. unlikeable characters but somehow the main character is still the most insufferable.

and theres a whole chapter of two 13 year old girls inserting a tampon and then one of the girls intentionally did not wash her hands. why? what does it add to the story?

too bad. i loved the idea. i mean, body horror, sapphic romance, mermaids. whats not to like? but this book is just not it. cringefest.

“Whether we like it or not, the one justification for the existence of all religions is death, they need death as much as we need bread to eat.”

What would happen if one day, suddenly, people stopped dying? Comatose patients open their eyes but continue to deteriorate, others are left with their organs inside out after a violent accident, and terminally ill patients endure pain with no end in sight.

This plot was actually interesting. However, the lack of punctuation took away all the fun! I found myself rereading often because it was confusing when the dialogue and the narration started and ended. The book doesn't follow any specific character and just tells the story of how this fictional country, where no one is dying, copes with the mystery. It was fun at first to read about insurance companies and funeral services panicking when their source of income was no more. After that, the story just dragged on, and I lost interest. And the ending was so random. What the heck was that?

Sadder on my reread.

Im surprised Gregor didnt rage when he realized he didnt have to be the sole breadwinner. Turns out everyone from his family can find work.
