Daydream and Drunkenness of a Young Lady by Clarice Lispector
5.0
i needed these short stories after nausea by jean-paul sartre; gorgeous existential writings that are sensual and sumptuous, and aware of the duality of our nauseas, their lionesses of compassion too, the fear and benevolence. with their feminist discussions upon how men retain female happiness within mediocrity in ‘amor’ through the idea of a protective love, how men want women there on their saturday, just to have them, possessions, like a sickness, they are of such profound thought. i hope to read a novel by lispector soon.

Dearly: Poems by Margaret Atwood

sweet poems with warmth in the retrospective and reflective nature of life, whilst being wholly realistic and aware of the darkness that exists within life, too often ignored in nostalgia. well-balanced.

Metamorphosis and Other Stories: Penguin Classics by Franz Kafka

i think i find kafka difficult due to the translation, would love to read him in his original language. the story touches on so much profoundly, in such a short space of time, it’s truly a display of kafka’s artifice.
