As I middle schooler, I DNFed this book and claimed to hate it because it made no sense. As an adult, I can only conclude that I really sucked in middle school because this is a perfectly decent book. The twist is twisty enough to be surprised even if you've already guessed half of it ahead of time. There were a few instances of poor transitions where characters just suddenly appeared in scenes out of the blue, but I think that's very forgivable for a debut novel. It was fun and easy to keep up with. I like Realm Breaker, so I'm glad to see that I like this book too.

I don't like romcoms, but I thought I'd try branching out and the result is that I still don't like romcoms. It was good enough. There were moments that I really loved, but most of the book was spent wishing that I wasn't reading a romcom. The characters were great, but the plot was pretty much nonexistent, which sucked since the first half of the book did build a small plot thread up just to not go through with it in the end. Mostly I just hope I'm never stupid enough to voluntarily read a romcom again.

This book is beautiful and dear god did the ending go for the throat! I wasn't sure it would be a 5 star read for me because even though I really wanted to love this book, the slower pacing and character driven nature of the narrative just wasn't doing it for me. Up until the ending. Now I'm in anguish and I need to scream at a wall for a bit.

I love these books with my whole heart. I have no purpose in life until the last one comes out. There was so much I wasn't expecting and the cliffhanger ending has me borderline feral with the need to bang down Steadman's door to get the resolution. The Skandar series occupies a very special place in my heart and this book continues to earn that place. I must know what happens next!

First of all pirates. It's been a hot minute since I've read the prior books in this series, but I was able to keep up with this one perfectly fine even without remembering much. It was fun and I like Sorinda. Plus it's my 100th book of 2024 on the 100th day of my reading streak, which does make me enjoy it more.

The beginning was a bit rough, but this is a fun read once you get into into. I'm always gonna love the awful man/worse woman pairing because I support women's wrongs. The Shadows Between Us didn't really need a part 2 tbh, but this book was enjoyable enough regardless assuming you don't take it too seriously. The romantic tension really elevated it for me because it was done in such a satisfying way.

Welcome to the continuation no one needed! I wanted to like this book, but it ended up just being a complete waste of my time. All I was looking for was closure after the end of Champion and this wasn't it. This was a novella side quest masquerading as a real full fledged book. The last 100 pages or so took me multiple days to read because I just did not care anymore. I'm so glad it's over and I never want to go back.

This is definitely the strongest book in the series. It's still not amazing, but the epilogue 10 years later? Sobbing at 2am over that. The epilogue by itself is so emotionally charged and well done that it raises my rating of the entire book. My heart is broken and those last words are gonna haunt me. Help.
