A nice silly little read when I’ve been struggling to stay focus on any of my other current reads! Something I would have loved as a child, and the writing is great for children. Hopefully will get me out of the slump I’ve been having!

My favorite quotes:

“The presence of evil was something to be first recognized, then dealt with, survived, outwitted, triumphed over.”

“Like any artist with no art form, she became dangerous.”

“Because each had discovered years before that they were neither white nor male, and that all freedom and triumph was forbidden to them, they had set about creating something else to be.”

A devastating deep dive on the human condition.

A wholesome love story about friendship embracing romance tropes via a platonic relationship amongst two aroace young adults. I found it too slow paced, repetitive and forced in the writing and plot development to rate it any higher than this but I do think the author hit the marks they intended to. I try to always read children’s, MG and YA novels with a grain a salt because I am not the intended audience but I do still feel like the story could’ve been shorter. I kept thinking it was about to end (or praying for it to, lol) and then it wouldn’t. It was very hard to not DNF but definitely glad I stuck it through! Adorable and heartwarming overall.
