A difficult, but well-rounded read. This book showcases a diverse (but western-US-heavy) set of perspectives. It is very much a stream-of-consciousness style book, as each chapter is based on verbal interview material.

Firstly, this book is batshit from the start and as it rolls along it grows into a giant, accelerating, gory, batshit snowball. I cannot recommend this enough for horror fans. A beautiful homage to Carrie, while maintaining a grounding, meaningful and unique narrative all its own.

A very personal 5 stars. So much love pours out of every single page. This book lays bare the good, the bad, and the ugly of putting yourself back together when everything is falling apart. A sweet love story is the backdrop to a heart-wrenching portrayal of self-love.

A solid book on women and language, but it is much more anecdotal than science-driven. Just know what you’re getting yourself into, which is a straight cis white woman’s personal experience with language sprinkled with interesting (though not well cited) studies to compliment it.

An intense story that is just so well written. The characters are fully fleshed out in a way that makes you feel like you are right there with them. Highly recommend for horror/thriller fans.
